What type of mother are you?

What type of Mother Hen Are You?
by Montessorimom.com: Educational Resource

Gentle? Moi? This made me laugh. I'm the Mom who willingly complies when the children ask to be spun around in the air and then set free to wobble and stagger across the lawn while I laugh until it hurts. They also like to be flipped upside down as I do arm curls while holding them by the ankles - this by the way is a great abdominal workout. Who needs a gym? - pish! And I swear, my kids think being dropped is half the fun.

Princess Beck?

Or prisoner Beck?

This is what happens when you live with a princess-obsessed big sister.

Good Friends

Kisses from Beck and Morgan

Leo says Hello

It was wonderful having Anara, Hilary and Nana visit this week. We are so lucky to still have such a connection to Beck's country through such wonderful friends and through other Kyrgyz families from the Yahoo group. I hope one day we can organize a big reunion and try to get as many of the Kyrgyz Kiddos together as possible.
So here's some pictures of Beck and Anara enjoying their visit together, with a special appearance of fellow Tokmok Tyke Jyly.
PS Beck is still asking for Nana!

Reuniting with old friends

This weekend has been very special. Saturday night Hilary, her Mother and Anara flew in from NE (http://bringinghomeanara.blogspot.com). We traveled with this wonderful family on both our first visit trip and our pick up trip. They will always be very special to us, after all we survived a night on the floor of JFK... it was quite a bonding experience.
Anara is doing so well! Since last we met, she is now walking... errr, running full tilt. I'm not sure she really remembers me (even though we really bonded on trip #2), but she does remember Beck and Beck remembers her. Her first night here we went out to dinner where Beck stood proudly with his arm around her and sneaking a kiss here and there.
To add to the excitement, last night we got to welcome home a little girl Beck grew up with at Tokmok (same 'house') (http://www.journeytojyly.blogspot.com/). Jyly looked a little overwhelmed at the crowd that gathered at Logan. But when she spotted her old friend Beck the most beautiful smile appeared. She reached for him and he smiled back. It was obvious that they still remembered each other. After a few minutes Beck leaned over and gave Jyly a kiss.

Congratulations to Jyly and her new family!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECK!!!!!

January 12, 2008

Beck had a great 3rd birthday. He spent much of the day playing with his sister and then went to the movies to see Veggie Tales. In the evening we had a pizza party with family and of course cake and presents. He now has the entire collection of everything truck and tractor related; bulldozers, backhoes, dump trucks, you name it! It looks like the Caterpillar dealership has set up a showroom in our living room!

Thinking about her

Tomorrow is the little man's big 0-3. We have a pizza party planned for the evening with our family and next weekend we're having the big party at his gymnastic center complete with bounce houses, super slides, loads of kids and complete mayhem.
But as his special day approaches I can't help but to think this day also belongs to his birth mother. I wonder what she's doing, if she's OK and if she's thinking of him today. I also wish she knew that her baby is safe, happy and very much loved. I know that the chances are slim that we'll ever meet, but we are forever connected because of this one very special little boy.
