Super Doper Pooper Advice

So here's the problem; Beck has no problem getting himself to the potty when he has to go poo (yeah, you're so glad you decided to read this post, huh) when he's at home. Even when we go out, he uses the potty. If he feels a poo comin' on while we're at the movies (yes, usually at the key, critical part of the film) he'll tell us and we play rock, scissor, paper on who has to escort him. All is good.... that is until he goes to pre-school, which is twice a week, where he inevitably comes home in pants that he wasn't wearing when I dropped him off that morning.... every. single. time.
I couldn't understand why he was having poo accidents every day at school. He has a just-his-size potty that he uses there without hesitation and yet he seems to always seize the opportunity to drop a dookie in his pull-ups. I couldn't figure out why he was doing this until one day I walked in to his room to find him spread eagle on the baby changing table while his teacher oohhhed and goo'd at him while she cleaned and powdered his bottom. He was in his GLORY! Loving every moment of it! I shook my head, now I see. As soon as he saw me he got that, 'oh shit' look on his face and hurried his teacher like he had gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
I explained to the teachers that not only does he fully know how to poo in the potty, he also knows how to change his own pull-up. No changing table, no powder, no coo-ing and caa-ing (I know, I'm such a mean Mom!). They were shocked that he possessed these hidden skills. Man, he has them hoodwinked.
But the poo keeps happening. Every day. My husband mentioned that maybe the teachers could just give him a bit of a time-out when he does this, to remind him that he KNOWS how to use the potty. They responded that time-outs are a form of abuse. ABUSE?! WHAT?!!!! No, rinsing crusty poo out of brand new pants is a form of abuse!
So what do I do? He is totally playing them. After all, he's one smart cookie. I really want the back-sliding at school to stop. He knows when he has to go, and he knows it's wrong to poop his pants. No longer do I want to do the walk of shame carrying my son's soiled pants in a plastic grocery bag.
And to make matters worse, we're leaving on a 15 day cruise in a May and he is required to be potty trained in order to join his sister in the kids' club activities! Appearantly Mickey Mouse doesn't hang with kids in poopy pants. And this boy LOVES The big mouse!
Please. Help! Or I'll have to resort to making him watch this, over and over again.

Now THAT'S abuse!

updates

Yeah, I know. I've been a real loser when it comes to updating my blog but we've been super busy.
We have a new member of the family! His name is Storm (Harbourtown Damien) and he sure is a sweet handsome boy!

To go with my new black horse I got a new BIG BLACK TRUCK!!!! Beck LOVES cruising in "Mama's truck". It's a big deal to him.

And amidst all this excitement I got to get away on a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas while Joe held down the farm and the kids. He did a great job, but I think I didn't come home a minute too soon for him!

And for those who are keep tally, Beck spent another evening in the emergency room after a failed attempt of flight and hit his head on his train table which, somehow, went all the way through his ear! Yeah, it looked as bad as it sounds. 8 stitches later, I'm really considering fitting him with a helmet! So the grand stitch total is now 15 (I think). Sheesh! Enough already!

Other than all that, we're still waiting for spring! And yes, it's snowing here.. AGAIN!

Life Lessons

DON'T FALL ASLEEP WHILE BABYSITTING!

I'm so glad Beck didn't have anything to do with this, otherwise I would be sure to sleep with one eye open! I have a feeling Uncle Bug will be sporting a hat for a while!

Oh Man!

Beck is upstairs right now chatting away in bed instead of sleeping. So I just yelled up and told him it was time to be quiet and go to sleep.... a beat of silence, and then clear as a bell he says, "Oh man, Mama!"

Kids. Smile.

It all started with a picture

Exactly one year ago today I learned about a little country called Kyrgyzstan and with one chance phone call, immediately got a referral of an 18 month old boy ( we were looking to adopt a child up to 18 months old. We later found out his age was incorrect and he was 2 years. Sometimes God has to trick you into seeing what you truly want).
Although, undoubtedly he was a cutie, it wasn't a magical moment when the heavens opened and I heard angels sing as I studied the features of this little strangers face. It was an odd feeling, thinking, 'is this my son?'. Then I got his medical report and my heart sank. It listed all sorts of horribly sounding ailments and conditions. I thought this poor boy, would he ever be capable of living a 'normal' life? I wasn't sure if we were at all prepared to raise a special needs child. I felt sad and guilty and heart broken.
But fate often helps us along. By chance, someone on the Kyrgyzstan Yahoo group told me her friend was at the Tokmok orphanage right now and knew this little boy well. So I e-mailed her and shared with her my concerns about all the scary things that his medical said. Much to my relief she assured me that he was a wonderful and healthy little boy. She was able to take some pictures for me and e-mail them immediately. I can not express how happy that made me. My worries about him melted away as she wrote to me for several days, updating me on what he was doing and sharing with me that he had really captured her heart as well.
I will always be thankful to Tina, and for fate and God. I can not believe it all started just a year ago today.
