Onslaught

There's been several occasions lately that Morgan has made mention of her weight. SHE'S SIX!!!! SIX! Never mind the fact that she's a bean pole, why on Earth is she thinking about her weight? This makes me so sad. Honestly, I'm not sure of the perfect way to handle it, but I usually try to not make an issue either way and focus on the fact that she's a healthy, smart little ruggie and that's all that's important. But is that enough?
Six. years. old.

Oh, wow. That video was messed up. I do not envy your position right about now. Good luck!

That video made me cry for my girls. It sucks doesn't it?

Mine get weird about their weight from time to time. I think they are more worried about mine though. Since getting pregnant with Ava (my last of four), I have held onto 80 extra pounds. I kid you not. That was 2 years ago. Sucks.

So I am Debbie Downer. Nice to meet you, Mala. :)

oof. that's rough. who knows where we get it, but I for one remember being embarrassed as a 6 or 7 year old that I had to wear "regular' size jeans while my sister wore "slim." it sure didn't come from my parents. maybe it's just something in the water?

Jessica O and (The Amazing) Cheasty welcome!

I promise my usual posts don't normally make one cry... well, except if their squimish about what I've recently learned is called "Moose knuckle".

But I digress.

Yes, the whole body image bullshit sucks. I just didn't know it sucks at 6. Ugh.

That was hard to watch.

*clears throat*

I think you are doing the right thing with not making an issue of it either way, and encouraging her youthful nature. She IS way too young.

My sister had a similar situation with her daughter when she started Kindergarten...kids were telling her she was fat (which she wasn't even close to being) she wanted to diet and run for exercise. Scared the crap out of all of us. My sister had the same approach, and it worked out wonderfully.

Sometimes kids just need to be reminded that they are kids.
